Candlemass is a Swedish doom metal band formed in Stockholm in 1984, widely regarded as one of the founding fathers of epic doom metal. With their debut album Epicus Doomicus Metallicus (1986) they essentially defined the genre, and went on to release classic albums like Nightfall, Ancient Dreams, and Tales of Creation. Candlemass remain one of the most respected and influential acts in the history of heavy metal.
