Mayhem is a Norwegian black metal band formed in Oslo in 1984, one of the most notorious and influential acts in the history of extreme metal. Known for their raw, chaotic sound and their central role in the early Norwegian black metal scene, they released landmark recordings like Deathcrush and De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas. Their 1986 demo Pure Fucking Armageddon is a foundational document of black metal history.
