Darkthrone is a Norwegian black metal band formed in Kolbotn in 1986, widely regarded as one of the most influential acts in the history of black metal. Their 1994 album Transilvanian Hunger is considered a cornerstone of the second wave of Norwegian black metal — raw, minimalist, and utterly uncompromising. Darkthrone have remained fiercely independent throughout their career.
